BACKGROUND

Jack Standley, was a teacher and leader in both private and public procurement. He was one of the first members of the association to earn a CPPO, was a Klang Award recipient, President of the MPPOA, a conference presenter, contributor to The Spanner with both articles and as the 'official' photographer, and MPPOA historian. He contributed to the development of the MPPOA scholarship program. In 1999, the MPPOA Board of Directors approved naming the scholarship program in honor of the late Jack Standley.

PURPOSE

MPPOA values the contributions, efforts, dedication and professionalism of its members. The Jack Standley Scholarship Program offers financial assistance to members that may be applied to registration fees for MPPOA or NIGP sponsored events including educational forums, certification testing and certification fees. MPPOA frequently refines its scholarship program to insure that it fully meets members' needs and will aid them in their professionalism, growth and development.

MPPOA recognizes that it has become increasingly more difficult for public entities to provide funding for members professional development and continuing education. Therefore, the scholarship program, as funding permits, will financially assist current members with budgetary constraints to assist them in reaching their professional goals.

ADMINISTRATION

The scholarship program is administered by MPPOA Awards and Scholarship Committee as established by the MPPOA Bylaws.

MPPOA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
